Why are long covid patients angry with the doctors..

As a doctor and patient both, I could have both perspective to have a fair judgement of long covid patients in this particular scenario. Long covid came as a shock to millions of people where they were left stranded and crippled with no basic medical care, due to lack of understanding of a new condition or unwillingness to accept owing to medical misogyny as it affected mostly young women.

Anger is justified when they learn that whole medical community turn them away with no attempt to understand even after multiple visits to different physicians who have only one thing in common. Long covid tend to not show on any routine tests and scans though there are few tests available now to detect inflammation in the body that makes physicians difficult to believe patients as they don’t look beyond normal reports. Getting dismissed everytime by doctors and everyone around is a traumatic experience beyond words to explain. Though there is no definitive treatment, it denies the possible medical care and essential support.

Having no treatment was ok to accept until new research came in, but cruelty that long covid patients had to go through needed  better management. There has to be a transformation in medical education at all levels to avoid future mishaps.
